Hi, everyone. I’m Jason Wu, a fashion designer based in New York. You may know my work—I designed Michelle Obama’s first inaugural ball gown and her second gown in 2013.
Fashion is all about vision. As a designer, my work is entirely visual—my eyes are the most important part of what I do. I’ve been wearing contact lenses for almost 30 years, but I was always a little afraid of LASIK. The idea of surgery on my eyes made me nervous.
One day, my friend Amy said, ‘You have to see Dr. Fong—everyone goes to Dr. Fong!’ So I thought, okay, I’ll go. When I met Dr. Fong, he told me, ‘I can solve all your troubles.’
Seriously?
I saw Dr. Fong twice in one week, and then I finally decided to go for it. I had heard that recovery takes a long time, but the moment I stepped out of surgery, I could see—right away!
The whole world looked completely different.
I’m incredibly grateful to Dr. Fong for giving me this life-changing experience. I only wish I had done it sooner!
